YPBHM, Inc.

The Yellow Pine Backcountry Historical Museum, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation registered with the state of Idaho in 2011.

The mission of the YPBHM is to educate through the identification, preservation, and interpretation of the Yellow Pine, Idaho area backcountry heritage.  There is currently a museum set up in the historic schoolhouse fondly known as The University of Yellow Pine. Volunteers are usually available to open the museum for groups or private viewings all year (inquire at the Yellow Pine General Store).

There are 5 Directors on the YPBHM board.  Board positions are held for 4 years, and officer positions (President, Secretary, and Treasurer) are held for 2 years.  The founding board members are:

Bill McIntosh (President) – second generation resident of Yellow Pine; semi-retired insurance agent, bringer of the Yellow Pine museum idea into reality

Lorraine McIntosh (Secretary) – resident of Yellow Pine; retired nurse and group home manager, “old stuff” collector

Phyllis Charters (Treasurer) – resident of Nampa, Idaho; retired accountant/bookkeeper, from a family with mining experience, a relatively recent Yellow Pine aficionado

Sherry Gordon – resident of Yellow Pine and Emmett, Idaho; retired library paraprofessional and granddaughter of Henry & Edna (Lister) Abstein, early Yellow Pine homesteading pioneers

Willie Sullivan – resident of Yellow Pine and Caldwell, Idaho; retired elementary school principal and history teacher
